Night Guard / Bruxism Treatment
“If you wake up with jaw pain, headaches, or worn-down teeth, you may be grinding in your sleep — and a custom night guard can help.”
What Is Bruxism?
Bruxism is the medical term for teeth grinding and jaw clenching, most commonly occurring during sleep. Many patients are unaware they grind their teeth until a partner notices, or Dr. Kim identifies the signs during an exam — worn enamel, chipped teeth, or jaw tenderness.
Signs You May Be Grinding Your Teeth
Morning headaches or jaw soreness
Worn, flattened, or chipped teeth
Increased tooth sensitivity
Tight or tired jaw muscles
Clicking or popping jaw joints (TMJ)
Indentations on the side of your tongue
What Causes Bruxism?
Common contributing factors include:
Stress and anxiety — the most common cause
Sleep disorders (especially sleep apnea)
Bite misalignment
Caffeine or alcohol consumption
Certain medications
